Many students considering an American education program may be very suprised by the high cost of living and education expenses at most schools. While the cost of education for international students in the USA is high and financial aid from U.S. Government sources is very limited, there are a number of ways that you can get financial aid to help reduce these costs.
Financial Aid Sources From Your Home Country
Private and public organizations in your home country may be able to provide you with financial aid in your home country may be able to provide you with the financial aid in the form of loans, scholarships or sponsorships. Some forms of financial aid, such as loans, must be paid back with interest after you have finished your education program. Others, such as scholarships, do not have to be paid back. Sponsorships may require you to return to your home country after finishing your overseas education rogram to work for the organization that helped pay for your education program.
Scholarships From American Schools
Scholarships for international students at public American schools are extremely rare, however, many private schools offer generous scholarships to international students with good academic grades. Scholarships awards can range from a few hundered dollars to over $10,000 dollars per year of you continue to have good grades.
Work Study
In addition to other forms of financial aid you may be able to recieve, you may be able to get a part-time on-campus job to earn money for your living and school expenses. International students are limited to working a maximum of 20 hours per week during the regular school sessions. Most on-campus jobs for students are in food service of basic office work.

Co-Operative Education Programs
Some schools and programs may offer co-operative education programs that allow you to work off-campus to get real-world work experience that is related to your education program. Co-operative education programs may be part of the curricular practical training program.
